What advice would you give to someone newly diagnosed with lymphoedema?
"So the advice that I would give to somebody who was newly diagnosed is not to keep it to yourself, to reach out to other people. Obviously, you’re gonna reach out to your friends and family to a certain extent, but I would definitely reach out as soon as you can to the lymphoedema community. And social media has been a big help to me in that."
Why is it important to you to share your lymphoedema journey with others?
"I want to set a good example, not just to other people with lymphoedema and similar conditions, but also to my own daughters because I think over the last two or three years or so, since I’ve had symptoms, they’ve seen me suffer physically, yes, but also suffer mentally with coming to terms with it."
What do you look for in a compression garment to support your lifestyle?
"It's really important to be comfortable in my compression garment because I want to move about freely. I want to do physical activities like walking and running and cycling because I just want to go about normal life, and I want to wear it with as normal clothes as possible. So comfort is high. Well, it's the number one priority. Obviously, what it gives me medically is really important as well, but it's got to be comfortable as well."*
